Overview
Discover Scoglio's Greentree, a polished Northern Italian and seafood restaurant at 1580 McLaughlin Run Rd Suite 102, Pittsburgh, PA 15241, United States. Now operating from its remodeled Upper St. Clair location, the restaurant combines traditional Italian comfort food with seafood specialties, generous portions, and a slightly upscale neighborhood atmosphere. From a food blogger’s perspective, Scoglio's Greentree works particularly well for date nights, family celebrations, business dinners, and diners who prefer classic Italian flavors over trend-driven plates.
The menu stretches from stuffed banana peppers, calamari, soups, salads, and pasta to chicken, veal, seafood, and daily specials. Lunch offers especially approachable value, with dishes such as Chicken Romano and Chicken Marsala around $16.50, while dinner chicken entrées are closer to $28 and premium seafood can reach approximately $40. Gluten-free pasta is available, and the restaurant also offers cocktails, wine, private parking, outdoor seating, takeout, private dining, and reservations.
A strong introduction to Scoglio's Greentree in Pittsburgh is the Chicken Romano. The chicken is dipped in a light Romano batter, sautéed, and finished with lemon beurre blanc, creating a delicate crust with salty cheese notes and bright buttery acidity. A recent 2026 Google reviewer praised both the Chicken Romano and Veal Romano, calling the food “exceptional” and specifically noting the care given to cooking, presentation, and service.
The Fried Zucchini is another signature worth ordering for the table. Thin slices are lightly battered and fried, then served with Romano cheese, marinara, and lemon. The result is crisp without feeling excessively heavy. Multiple diners single it out as a favorite, and a recent customer described the coating as light and the zucchini as excellent. At about $11.95, the appetizer is intended to serve two to four people.
Seafood lovers should consider the Jumbo Lump Crab Cake Imperial. Served with lemon butter sauce, it leans into rich, sweet crab flavor rather than burying the seafood beneath aggressive seasoning. Stuffed sea scallops, shrimp scampi, broiled fish, and seafood pasta broaden the selection, helping Scoglio's Greentree stand apart from Italian restaurants focused almost entirely on red-sauce classics.
The atmosphere feels warm, comfortable, and more refined than a casual trattoria. The remodeled dining room accommodates both intimate meals and larger gatherings, while bar seating, outdoor tables, and private dining add flexibility. A July 2026 customer called it an “Incredible, authentic Italian restaurant!” and praised the friendly staff and quick service. Large portions are another recurring compliment. The main consideration is price: some recent diners feel dinner pricing, particularly for seafood, has become expensive.
For anyone comparing the best restaurants in Pittsburgh for memorable local dining experiences, Scoglio's Greentree deserves consideration for its Chicken Romano, crisp fried zucchini, seafood selection, attentive hospitality, and generous Italian portions. Call +1 412-921-1062 and visit for a relaxed lunch, special dinner, or classic Italian meal worth sharing.

This place was so cute and quaint. It's a little spot but everyone is so nice. We decided fo try this place on a whim and was just really craving good Italian..... they usually require a reservation, but they were nice and was able to fit us in. The portion sizes were huge and the food was just as good! The chicken was so flavorful and the ingredients I could tell were fresh. They also provide bread and rolls and my son loved them. The waitstaff was very friendly and attentive and I will be back!
We had an enjoyable dinner here. They have a massive seating area which was packed on a Saturday night. Reservations recommended. Service was good even though the place was packed. The fried zuchinni was excellent - thinly sliced, light coating and crispy. I got the chicken parm - which was just as good. The chicken was cooked perfectly and the breading was not overwhelming or soggy. I really enjoyed it. Overall a good experience
So many good things to say about this restaurant. Scoglio's moved from their Greentree location to Pine Bridge Commons, which is all remodeled has a wonderful atmosphere and a great Upper Saint Clair location. Besides the convenient location and renovation, both the food and service is impeccable. A large menu with daily specials is available. We enjoyed a large group Christmas party which went absolutely perfect. The service we received from our server Kevin was top notch, thank you Kevin for making it a memorable event. We visit restaurants for the food first and foremost.......Scogio's has that nailed down. The atmosphere, location and service is icing on the cake. If you have not already, I HIGHLY recommend dining here. 20250227 Another great lunch and thanks to Kevin our server, it was even better............. Thank you Kevin.
We were a party of eight with ages 2 to 75. The food was delicious and served hot in a timely manner. Our server (I think his name was Kevin) was so helpful and patient with the kids, ages 2, 4, and 8. Seating was comfortable but a little noisy. We’ll be back, but not with kids.
